I can adjust the graphics settings to Average, High, or Highest, but performance remains unstable with 30-60 FPS, especially during fights. It seems the limited RAM might be the issue, along with high disk usage and a slow 5400 RPM HDD.

It seems unlikely the graphics card ran out of VRAM. With 8GB of RAM, it should have enough for smooth performance.

The 1060 3GB might struggle with performance, though it satisfies the basic requirements; however, it doesn’t meet the suggested standards. Also, be sure to install the latest GPU drivers, version 391.01, as NVIDIA has released game-ready updates for FFXV.

FFXV delivers strong performance. My frame rate hovers around 50fps, falling into the low 30s during tough battles. I've upgraded to an OC of 1800X with a 4.1ghz processor, dual 1080p graphics in SLI (Profile enabled adds roughly 20% gain), 32GB RAM at 3333MHz, and powering from a Samsung 850. All configurations are set to maximum, except Nvidia Hairworks and an unknown "Grass" driver which I disabled because SLI settings don't support them. Motion blur is off. Resolution runs at 3440x1440. System RAM usage stays between 14GB–20GB while gaming, with about 60–70% utilization on both GPUs and 7GB VRAM. The CPU remains balanced across cores, around 50% usage overall. It looks like the game is running close to its optimization level at these settings. If you enable the FPS option in settings, you can check how much VRAM it consumes. Consider switching to a custom profile and lowering the TRAM value, since my 1070 model has limited memory.

I like to play games with the FPS monitoring on since I'm a curious guy. FFXV is a heavy game as Evanair says above me. I can run it at 2560x1440 on hi settings with the hi-res add on pack and get a average of 80fps with My Ryzen 1800x and Strix Vega 64. It usually uses between 7 - 15GB of system memory. When I stream it dips to around 50fps There is a page called systemrequirementslab. They have a list of game specs + a system scan tool to see if your system can play the game. I have not tried the scan tool myself. Here are some numbers from one of my streams, as you can see it uses a lot of memory. This is 2560x1440 on hi settings

I completed the upgrade to 16GB of RAM. No more frame rate drops. It was a combination of limited VRAM, insufficient system memory, and a very slow hard drive. Fine.
