Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV
Hi Everyone. I've been enjoying Final Fantasy XIV since its release, with only a few short breaks for various reasons. I really appreciate how visually appealing the game is and how engaging it feels overall—especially as a longtime fan of the series. My friend, who’s interested in trying it out, found it hard to stick with because the combat relies heavily on a 2.5-second timer (like cooldowns or cast times). He’s used to games like World of Warcraft and a few others where the cooldown is around 1 second. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to help him adjust to this timing without losing interest after just a few minutes? Do you have any similar experiences? Personally, I think the longer timer might be a bit excessive, but it likely exists because the game encourages strategic positioning and careful reaction to enemy moves—something different from the fast-paced, reactive style of WoW.
It's accurate, monk—it seems similar in that you need to manage a lot constantly. I've consistently favored staying on the move, which is why I chose bard as my primary choice.
