I'm attempting to duplicate the desktop at 82% completion, but it halts because the path is too lengthy for copying or saving. I've already checked the Registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem) and tried various tools like Robocopy, FreeFileSync, TeraCopy, and fileassasin. No success so far. I need a program that scans all drives and lists paths exceeding the Windows limit, allowing me to remove them one by one or in bulk. P.S. I've searched extensively—I suspect Google is trying to lead me on a secret mission.

The storage system on the target drive has a limited maximum size compared to the source drive.

Thanks a lot! It's great to know it works again every few weeks.

Disk Management might not cover every format, especially newer ones. Other tools or methods could be better for checking formats and long filenames. EDIT HERE Do you know which format will likely accept long filenames/path? NFTS,xFat,PAT32? Or is it just important that they match and this will allow more than 255+ long? Thanks for your time and help!

It's not the filesystem, you have to rename the files to a shorter name. It's a windows thing.

Operating systems handle long paths, but applications must recognize them and employ correct system methods to interact with the file system and correctly read directories and files.

Open the registry editor (regedit.exe). Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem. Double-click LongPathsEnabled, set it to 1, then click OK. Restart the system.
