Arch is not the easiest distribution to handle =) Unless you can post a picture of the last messages (or better jet - boot from a live CD/USB, dig into the log files and paste the contents here) - or boot and older Kernel, as already proposed (which should work) and do the same things (get into the logs, post the information here, so we can help you fix it), I believe we can not help. You need to give specific information to get any help! That being said, Arch Forums can be more helpful. Not saying that this forum isn't, but there's bound to be more Arch users there. Also, it is a fact that unless you have specifically told pacman to not do it, it will upgrade the Kernel (which can break things, especially proprietary drivers - Arch is not a distro for beginners).

I attempted to start the system from a USB drive, but encountered the same issue.

No backup kernel options in GRUB were functional?

The issue likely stems from a fault in your computer's hardware. The precise error code will help identify the problem.

I attempted to run an older kernel but it failed. Eventually, I upgraded to a fresh system since maintaining it was too time-consuming.
