File Explorer now operates in dark mode.
I just changed my PC to update from 1803 to 1809 to enable dark mode in File Explorer, since I rely on my Windows tablet for streaming media. However, a small problem kept me puzzled after the update. Everything appears in dark mode except for a faint bar at the bottom. I turned off the status bar in settings, even though I thought it was part of the dark mode setup, but it still won’t disappear or change color. Is this issue common among others?
Settings → Personalization → Colors Oh no, the status bar! It looks dark in Dark Mode. Should I restart it?
I got it wrong. Let me make sure I understand what you're asking.
It's hard to see for you too. Consider restarting your PC, looking for the latest Windows update, or toggling dark mode again.
The bottom bar in the photo is the one I'm trying to remove or modify. I've noticed many users who don't even have this bar at the bottom (I'm not sure about its function). Sadly, I've restarted it a dozen times without success—unapplied and re-applied the dark mode repeatedly. Thanks for your help!
It adds a new bar in dark mode while maintaining the white background underneath.
Using the SFC command tool in Windows 10 to repair system files is a common troubleshooting step. Here’s how you can proceed:
The status bar isn't part of Windows. You applied a custom tweak tool to get a modified status bar in File Explorer. This version doesn't work with the Dark Theme. If possible, undo your changes; otherwise, reinstall Windows without using any tweak utilities.
