File downloads increase energy consumption and reduce internet speed.
Hi Everyone, I'm looking for advice about my PC setup. I have an RM850x power supply and a Sata SSD. When downloading big files, especially via Steam or other sites, the app reports high power usage and the download speed is much slower than on other machines in the same network. Could anyone share their thoughts? Am I exceeding the limits of my power supply, motherboard, or CPU? Thanks, RuskBusk
Check for strong processing capability, especially with fast data transfer rates. The 5900X handles heavy loads efficiently at around 80% capacity while managing 1Gb/s traffic.
Maybe the servers you download from can provide even better performance. It’s still quite acceptable. With a gigabit connection, you often experience speeds under 10-15 mb/s. Have you run a speed test?
Hi Chtorogu, your speed test indicates you can achieve up to 30 MB/s in downloads. What caught my attention is that you previously got faster speeds on this PC, but it began capping around 10-14 MB/s. RuskBusk
