I purchased GTA V directly from Rockstar Games (not through Steam) last August, and it functioned correctly until recently. Following a Windows reinstallation last week, I’ve been encountering the "failed zlib call; please reboot, verify data, or reinstall" error. For the past four days, I've exhaustively tried every possible troubleshooting step. I have no modifications installed, solely playing online regularly, and I'm frustrated by the need to spend countless hours repeatedly verifying or reinstalling the game – which I’ve done three times each. This is proving incredibly irritating. While reinstalling temporarily resolves the problem for a couple of hours, it inevitably returns to its initial state. I’ve also contacted Rockstar support without success. I've diligently researched and implemented solutions from YouTube and Google. Do you have any suggestions? Currently, I am ensuring all available updates are installed – including Windows, antivirus software, and drivers – as I suspect file corruption may be the cause. This could potentially resolve the issue, but there’s no guarantee.

I completed that task, encountering issues on both drives. The problem has been fixed, and I’ve also updated Windows and various other components. Is it conceivable that my story mode save file is damaging the game's data? All was operating correctly up until I finished a few narrative missions.
