pc specs
cpu ryzen 7 5800x
gpu rx 7900 xt
ram 32gb 3200hz
psu 850watt
mobo rog strix b550-f gaming wifi ii
monitor 1440p 144hz
recently i added an rtx 4070 to my pc from a rtx 3060 ti and at that time my pc felt slower for gaming. i decided to upgrade to an rx 7900 xt and it still doesn’t reach the fps i expected in games like destiny 2. on destiny 2 i struggled to hit 90 fps with medium settings at 1440p, while on mw2 i got between 70 to 120 fps with balanced settings at 1440p. on apex i achieved 80 to 120 fps across all settings, low or none at 1440p. i’m curious if anyone knows what’s happening or if you have any tips.
To understand this thoroughly, you should use hardware monitoring tools while playing games or running benchmarks. HWInfo, HWMonitor and MSI Afterburner are typically the first options to consider because they provide detailed insights into power consumption, clock speeds, core usage, temperatures, etc. Even though it's quite basic, 3dmark is useful for comparing CPU and GPU performance across different systems. It's not flawless, but it helps spot significant deviations.
