I recently purchased a Macbook Pro and have found some aspects that bother me. Downloads show up as an external drive on the desktop, and new applications appear directly in the Dock even after closing them forcefully. There might be ways to adjust these settings to reduce the interruptions. Let me know if you'd like more details!
Installers typically arrive as disk images, giving you a physical drive when you download them. You should either install directly or move the app to Applications, then remove it from the Dock. The Dock retains recently opened apps, and it’s unclear if you can turn this off in the Dock settings.
Mac programs show up as files just like any other, reminiscent of older Mac processes from the early 1980s. They aren’t installed everywhere with files scattered; instead, they’re sent as compressed disk images. The operating system unpacks the archive and mounts the image, allowing you to move the app into the Applications folder. This method dates back to the early days of OS X and even existed on classic Mac OS in the 90s. Simply place the app in Applications, then unmount the virtual disk and discard the .dmg file. You can’t turn this off—it’s built into the system. Remove the app from the Dock, and it should only show there when active. By default, a portion of the Dock is reserved for shortcuts to your most recent apps and documents. Icons refresh as you switch tasks. (Macs offered a comparable feature starting with System 7.5 in the mid-90s, with the Apple Menu storing aliases for frequently used programs.) You can disable this if it bothers you.
well installer is bit different on Mac. happened to me when i install Discord. usually when you open "installer" there is like an icon of the application next to a folder. just click and drag it to folder. otherwise it appear like external drive. Regarding about icon below that kept pop after quitting program is basically a pinned apps on taskbar. just unpin it. like windows taskbar. then it should only appear when you run the program.
