Feeling nervous about changing the BIOS for your X470 Aorus Gaming 5 WIFI
Hello everyone, here are the Rig stats at the end. For some time I faced regular crashes and initially suspected my RAM sticks were the issue, but after disabling XMP, the problem persisted. I checked my BIOS settings and found it's outdated (about three years old). Now I'm cautious about updating BIOS; I haven't done it before and want to understand what to prepare for, what signs to watch, and how to handle crashes effectively—ideally preventing them. My current BIOS version is F3 (refer to the rig list). I've tolerated it so far since it hasn't affected my work much, but recently I encountered Affinity Designer crashing after a few clicks without any crash reports. This points toward a hardware problem rather than software. My system details: Windows 10 Pro, Pro 64-bit, Mobo X470, AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8/16 cores @3.2GHz), RAM: 2x8 Corsair DDR4-2132 XMP-3200, Graphics: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. For a more detailed list, see the attached CPU-Z log file.
