Hello beginner on Linux, you're looking for guidance. Previously I ran Windows 10 on an old Dell Vostro 3550, everything worked fine until temperatures spiked. I tested various distros but none stabilized the readings consistently. Now I'm on Linux and noticed high temperatures around 70-81°C during idle, especially with the Core-0 adapter. The issue seems to be with the core temperature sensor. I'm trying to figure out what to check or adjust to fix this problem with the Core-0 ISA adapter. Any suggestions?

Based on what I remember about older OEM motherboards, they often don’t have any temperature sensors to provide readings. Anything that claims otherwise might be anything—ranging from HDDs to memory—but these aren’t usually listed by standard OEM bios. That means we really don’t know if CoreTemp works accurately in Windows, let alone on Linux. Maybe test other monitoring tools and see which ones give similar results. If they all differ... it’s hard to say what to tell you. Choose the one with the most reliable low-temperature readings and start from there.
