Yesterday I was engaged in a game and suddenly my monitors stopped receiving a signal. To resolve this, I shut down the computer hard and restarted it. However, Windows wouldn’t boot and remained stuck on the loading screen. Upon checking my BIOS, I realized the SSD (which held the game) wasn’t detected anymore. After unplugging it, I was able to access Windows again. When I connected it back while the system was running, certain programs would freeze. Reconnecting it resolved the issue. I also attached an events file that records what happens when the SSD is plugged in. While the SSD was connected, I ran a chkdsk command (chkdsk D: /F /R) and received these results. My system details are: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, Motherboard – Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS, RAM – Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB), DDR4-3200 CL16 GPU – NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Storage – Seagate FireCuda 530 2 TB M.2 SSD (boot drive) plus the defective Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SATA SSD, Power Supply – be quiet! 80+ Gold, Operating System – Windows 11 64 bit version 22H2.

It looks like your SSD might have been included in a problematic group of Samsung 870 EVO units.
