Faulty CPU
Faulty CPU
My Ryzen 5600X ran smoothly for two days in a clean build before it stopped. Initially, benchmarking and load tests worked perfectly. However, when playing games, it would freeze and restart whenever I switched tabs from Chrome. At first, I thought it was a software problem—checking monitors with varying refresh rates and one with G-Sync made me suspect an NVIDIA GPU or driver issue. After several restarts, it would crash inside the UEFI BIOS, then transition to Windows. The BIOS functioned normally at standard temperatures, and Linux USB connected without issues (almost like it was a different machine). Everything except the CPU seemed fine. I spoke with others, but no one thought it was a CPU failure—probably because the odds of such an event were extremely low, and they should be reliable. I’m curious about what might have happened: could the CPU have been replaced during repair or returned via RMA after failing overclock attempts, then resold as working?
