A few months back I upgraded my old computer. The only components I retained were the storage drives and the RAM. The RAM I purchased was a 16GB DDR4 HyperX Fury from at least three years prior. I’ve been using XMP profiles with speeds around 2100MHz for some time. However, after checking hwinfo, it seemed my RAM was still operating at 1000MHz. I tried setting the profile to 2400MHz in the BIOS, but this caused a critical failure—my PC only displayed a black screen when I powered it on. I’m feeling really anxious and need urgent assistance, as I’ve never encountered this problem before (my machine is an MSO MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon Wi-Fi).

Reset the CMOS power. Also, certain programs display the actual memory rate, which is only half of the real speed—this is why DDR is called Double Data Rate. For example, a 2133MHz (or 2133MT/s) device may appear as 1066/1067MHz in tools such as CPU-Z or possibly HWiNFO64.

Unless you apply extreme voltages, just reset the CMOS and it should work.
