at this stage, they aren't turning speedrunning into an e-sports because it's not as good as what we have now. and I'd actually enjoy watching speedrunning in a proper e-sports environment. think of games like the Legend of Zelda: OTL or Super Mario Odyssey with odds categories like "no coin" runs.

Destiny: "We don't think the game fits e-sports."
Farming Sim: "Hold on, I'm not sure."

I heard about it. But I thought the main focus was on its non-competitive nature. They emphasized how quickly you could cultivate crops, race tractors, and even imagined seeing a competitive event like Forza Horizon 4.

I share the view of @hiitswilliam. This game isn't meant for competition. I prefer seeing flight simulator treated like an esport. You can easily challenge each other on best approaches and landings, particularly in tough weather. The winner is the one who performs best.

This brings back the Funhaus clip where they mocked competitive farming as a disguised labor competition, poking fun at how it feels like free work hidden behind a contest format.

I don't know... I think it could be quite engaging.
Farming simulator, although it can be enjoyed alone, would be MUCH... much quicker with more players, and it's a challenging game to perfect. Achieving the fastest pace would demand strong collaboration and excellent contributions from everyone involved. Would it be quicker... to have several people cut the hay instead of just one stacking, or vice versa? Should someone operate the trailer while others gather the crops right away?
It would be enjoyable in a more laid-back way. Clearly, the growth rates of the plants would be accelerated significantly to keep things interesting.
As for you: I tried farming simulator for a while and am considering upgrading to the latest version. The modding community there is large and it's quite relaxing to play. It's similar to watching one of those "100% satisfaction videos" but actually playing it.

Flight sim landings in e-sports would be extraordinarily boring. "And here the player is.... approaching the runway.... except THIS time it's WINDY." And 90% of the people wouldn't be able to see the difference in skill anyway. And it'd be mostly single player.

To be fair, landing comps already exist, and are widely participated in. There's even a flight sim convention in Las Vegas. It's rather fun to watch someone try and land a 747 on a runway that can barely support a 737, and even more so when the person flying can barely land a Cessna. Oh and, it's usually done in multiplayer lobbies.
