Far Cry 4 meets the grim, chaotic vibe of darkness.
Hey there, I noticed you're having trouble with the lighting in Far Cry 4. The missions at night feel really confusing and hard to navigate. Even though you can't see much, it's tough to move through areas full of enemies while dealing with a badly injured ally. You've tried adjusting brightness, contrast, and gamma, but it doesn’t seem to fix the problem. It’s possible this is either a bug or something the developers didn’t anticipate. Let me know if you want help troubleshooting further!
Your IPS monitor appears very dim in certain games, unlike your old TN. Consider downloading Gamma Control and testing it out. It might improve visibility. I use it in Minecraft so I don’t need torches for night vision. (Slightly sneaky, but true)
It seems you're pointing out a discrepancy in how the screenshots appear across different monitors. I noticed the darker image looks better on another display, and I hope they provided night vision support. Have others faced similar issues during this mission?
I watched a video showing someone switching between settings, and it made the game feel much darker.
Fixed the problem by adjusting my monitor's settings. It works now. Appreciate the help!
Update the game if you managed to get it early. It breaks with any settings older than SSAO unless a patch exists. The day one fix added HBAO support. When you apply a patch, avoid Tree tessellation. That sudden setting change was rushed to boost performance on a GTX 970 versus a 290/x—no real visual change. All other Nvidia features function properly and the God Rays have been replaced with enhanced versions. Soft Shadows, PCCS, whatever it is called, looks inferior to UIltra and behaves similarly to Ultra. The fur in the game barely makes a difference on my R9 290. It hasn’t reached Nvidia Hairworks quality yet (no GPU bias), since the game keeps stuttering and they didn’t want more issues. Overall? Performance depends mainly on your GPU power. Stuttering seems to be Ubisoft’s responsibility and occurs across the board.
