I cannot get my gamma, brightness, and contrast balanced. The dark is pitch black and fires or bright lights are just giant fuzzy objects. This is a screenshot of my game.

Adjust the graphics options to use SSAO instead of HBAO+ or vice versa.

You looked into this yourself and still couldn't locate the solution...? Didn't you try searching for a fix before sharing it? There are thousands of discussions online already discussing ways to resolve this problem. Try using keywords like "Farcry 4 black shadows" or similar terms. Be thorough in your research, apply your own effort.
