It depends on how you view it. Some might claim 720p at 60fps beats 1080p at 40fps, while others argue the reverse. Each jump raises the cost, but better quality always makes a difference. With three monitors and three video cards, you can see nine distinct options.

I've obtained a version of Far Cry 4. It looks stunning and performs well—just a bit choppy in some areas. It's highly polished, even at high resolutions. Players who ran the original should feel comfortable. My hardware: 780Ti, 3570K i5 @ 4.2 GHz, 32GB DDR3 RAM.

You're focusing on the AO to SSAO transition without pushing anything beyond its limits. It seems like you're not testing at peak settings, especially since FC3 wouldn't sustain 60fps even in high settings. The comparison to FC4 suggests it's a noticeable improvement, which is surprising given Ubisoft's usual performance. I'd say the FX8350 could really boost your experience if you can find it for around $125, making it easier to enjoy games before investing in newer titles. The FX-4100 isn't great for gaming at all.

50-60fps works well with high settings, and it improves significantly without AA/Ambient Occlusion. It appears beautifully even at lower resolutions, and once you reach certain levels, higher settings no longer matter much. Just ensure your graphics card is capable; otherwise you'll be fine. These are my first thoughts.

You're highlighting that even with the best GPU available, achieving smooth performance often requires lowering settings. Games like Crysis 2 and 3 are known for their good scaling, and CryEngine 3 also performs well in this regard. Essentially, the engine adjusts nicely to different hardware levels.

Only rough ideas here, not a full breakdown. It was definitely challenging at first, but adjusting some settings helped a lot. Like in Crysis 3, easing back on post-processing didn’t hurt much. So far, over five hours in, I haven’t seen any glitches or crashes—probably Ubisoft put a lot of effort into making it smooth. Unity didn’t hold up well, though.

Many users have encountered crashes and problems with the game, making it seem poorly built and inefficient. Some experience those issues, while others may not have faced them.

Experiment with it on your own to discover what works.
