I purchased NV during the summer discount, expecting great performance. However, upon playing, I was let down. Many praised its quality, but my experience was far from what they said. The game feels quite sluggish at the beginning. Is there anything I’m doing incorrectly?

It's a massive game, but chasing only the highlights won't get you where you need to be. Stick with the primary mission for a while, and it will guide you toward the right path.

I received the game but it crashed repeatedly. I spent two full days trying to fix it so it could run with mods, but after a brief introduction from Doc, I went outside. After about two minutes the game crashed again, and I realized it was terrible overall. I wouldn’t play it again. PC MasterRace is fine, mods are a frustrating process when most don’t work, and I’d rather play Skyrim instead—it’s much better and more stable.

Getting to the strip is long. But otherwise, the game is AMAZING. I like Fallout 3 though.

It's interesting...I shared similar feelings about Skyrim. Perhaps post-apocalyptic scenes filled with zombies and monsters aren't your style, just like classic RPGs aren't really for you. By the way, NV seems to be in rough shape. Like many users, I encounter long loading times and can't save my progress.

My perspective remains that Fallout 3 was superior.

If you haven't played three games yet, try starting there first. It offers a stronger beginning and helps you join the series. Once you finish three, NV will look much improved.

The most enjoyable aspect of Fallout 3 and NV was quietly exploring, collecting gear, and silently eliminating targets.
