My G1 970 performs well with bright medium lighting and decent shadow detail. It runs smoothly at around 1550MHz on the core and 8k on memory, paired with a 4690k processor and an 850EVO card. With 8GB RAM, it handles the workload comfortably, staying in the high 40s under normal conditions. Performance drops to the low 30s on ultra settings, though it’s still solid. Arkham Knight gives more consistent results than expected. It's impressive, but not flawless. The 1920x1080 resolution is a bit low for me. Overall, it’s worth the effort.
I started with 60 frames per second in the beginning of the game. Once I moved out, the frame rate dropped sharply to 30 or lower in many areas, sometimes reaching 50 or more, other times dropping below 40. The overall average hovered around the mid-30s to low 40s. My system uses an AMD R9 380 4 GB with an FX 8320 OC running at 4.2 GHz, and I was using the maximum settings at 900p.
Shadowdrawdistance stands out as the primary FPS killer in the City. I experienced drops into the 40s there too, but I play at 1440p and adjusted the ini settings for better detail, like view distance. Gsync doesn’t really matter much. Probably isn’t the best case to call a perfect example here.

Gameworks consists of a collection of proprietary libraries and tools designed to enhance visual effects in games. Since its developers maintain closed-source status, they lack the ability to modify the source code for customization with their game engines. Batman Arkham Knight for PC exemplifies why developers should avoid using Gameworks in the future. AMD's GPUOpen presents a major shift, offering full open-source access that allows optimization for both AMD and Nvidia hardware. I believe more creators will adopt it instead of relying on Nvidia's current issues. Nexus Mods offers several performance boosts, including a notable shadow improvement that demands significant CPU and GPU power.
