It seems the game works well at high settings but had performance issues earlier. At 1440p with the non-beta patch, I experienced FPS drops and stuttering during movement and combat. After returning the game, I’m checking if those problems are resolved. I was also using shadows at high, godrays low, and shadow distance high as suggested, which helped with the ultra difficulty.
I'm testing it on a GTX970 at 1440p with 60fps nonstop. I believe I only reduced the brightness settings, as they seem quite low to me. It performed perfectly from the start. Could be a driver problem since your GPU should handle it smoothly.
They reported problems with the 300 series, especially the 390 model, according to App4that.
Really question it. It’s impossible to get a locked 60 with just the 970. Sure, it often gives 60 most of the time, but the stutter ruins the experience. He checked it with a 980/980ti too. Also, the negative feedback on Steam for FO4 was real—it was a flawed game on PC and consoles, but we’re PC players.
Most fallout titles have experienced significant crashes and bugs.
Fallout 3 performs smoothly on current systems. Fallout 4 poses challenges due to its design constraints.
I faced significant challenges with my setup and tested all available drivers. CCC performed well overall but struggled the most in FO4, which is the game I usually play.
