Fallout 4 crashed during gameplay.
I've been using this game on my 8700k for a while now. I decided to try something new by adding another card. It's an MSI Z370-A Pro, which doesn't support SLI, but I was feeling bored. So I upgraded to a 1080Ti just to see if it could handle dx12 with multiple GPUs. I turned off the FPS limit in the NVIDIA settings and started playing Fallout 4. The game ran at over 2000 FPS, then it crashed. Wow, what happened? I noticed one GPU was at 100% and the other at 50%. Does this mean dx12 somehow managed to use both GPUs? I know the game supports SLI, but my motherboard doesn't. I'm not familiar with this stuff, could you help me understand? Thanks.
two 1080ti in Fallout 4 ran at more than 2000fps on the loading screen. I didn’t notice the main menu’s speed, I was too stunned to see 2000fps while loading. Gameplay smoothed out above 1000fps, but the screen just went dark. Really, I thought New World was happening again...
I removed one card from the case. The MSI A-Pro Z370 isn't designed for SLI, probably the second card caused the issue. I was just testing the dx12 multi-GPU feature. Fallout 4 does support SLI, but it seems dx12 isn't fully developed yet. Or perhaps dx12 functions, but the motherboard also needs multi-GPU support?
