I've made the initial changes to try using two cores. The game keeps crashing despite that. Is there a reliable solution to stop this? If not, I might remove it completely. It could be a good time to explore the Steam refund option.

I've never experienced any crashes with it before. I visited the Fallout Nexus and installed some updates like Fallout Studder Remover, 4b patch, and an unofficial Fallout 3 patch. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit as well, so I'm confident those changes will improve your gaming experience.
