Fails to start from UEFI or apply BIOS updates.
I haven't been able to retrieve my bios lately. Although it's upsetting, I've relied on this workstation for a project and didn't want to disrupt its performance. Now that the project is done, I'm more confident in troubleshooting. After finishing, I feel better about resolving issues. Previously, pressing the Del key at boot gave me access to UEFI without trouble. Even with Fastboot active, it worked fine. My first fix was turning off Fastboot, but that didn't solve the issue. I tried booting into bios via Shift + Restart, which opened Troubleshoot. I selected Advanced settings and then UEFI Firmware Settings, hoping it would guide me to the correct menu. According to Microsoft, this should have taken me to UEFI, but it led straight back to the desktop. I considered updating the BIOS with a USB drive in UEFI, but since I can't access UEFI, I used the ASUS AI Suite. The update checker showed no new updates (version 3302), though a newer version (4201) was available on ASUS's site. I downloaded the CAP file and manually applied it through the updater. The process ran smoothly until a restart was needed. After that, the system booted properly. Yet, the bios remained at 3302. My suspicion is that the same problem stopping the update caused the issue. I've considered wiping the bios to start fresh, but I know the X570 model doesn't support AMD 5000 series CPUs natively. I managed to update the BIOS on a different board with an older CPU, which worked. At this stage, I'm really stuck and would appreciate any guidance. Thank you. I discovered this the difficult way. It seemed the issue was with the wireless setup (missing mx keys), so it wasn’t recognizing the dongle. The easy fix was a €10 wired keyboard.
