Failed to generate bootable USB drive.
I'm trying to make a standard Windows 10 USB bootable. I've used two different USB sticks on two different computers with the creation software installed, and it worked fine there. But once I tried it, it said it was corrupted when I attempted an install. How do I create a bootable media? I just visited the Microsoft site and clicked "Download tool now." I want to save it to a flash drive and then use it on my PC.
The instructions provided are clear and follow the correct process for cleaning a Windows 10 installation.
If the media creation tool isn't functioning, use Rufus and simply ISO. You can obtain ISO from a mirror site or via a browser extension for Microsoft's site. The only requirement is changing the user agent to something other than a Windows PC.
I'll attempt Rufus using ISO format next. Windows is installed but it starts as 'other user,' which is frustrating. It looks like a clean install might resolve the problem, though I'm unsure where the process is going wrong. Edit: Successfully changed ua and downloaded the ISO. Thanks for the advice—I didn't realize that was an option. Updated September 20, 2018 by Puma911
Windows is setting up! Thanks once more! Edit: no Chrome extension required.

Your message appears copied from another source. Since this isn’t about WinXP, and no one suggests using UltraISO for making bootable USBs, I’m the only one recommending it for certain tasks. I mainly use it for extracting ISOs.
