This began with a need to repair my computer. A tutorial suggested booting in safe mode. I agreed. Now I’m on the login screen for safe mode and it’s requesting a password. As the clever little one I am, I never created a password—just a PIN. Even after resetting my Microsoft account three times, it still doesn’t work. I’m trying to reach: startup repair – Nope, Command prompt – Nope, reset Windows 10 – Nope. Anyone have ideas? I’m worried I might damage my monitor with the keyboard soon.

I doubt you could create a PIN without a password, so at some time someone probably set one up. Did you configure your Windows login to use a Microsoft account? (Such as an outlook.com or hotmail.com profile?) If yes, you can change that password on another device, then restart the computer with internet access and enter the new credentials.

Attempt to access the system in standard mode using the updated password, then revert to safe mode.

Try accessing the login screen directly from another device or browser, bypassing safe mode. If you need further help, let me know!
