Facing issues with extracting factory windows from an SSD.
Hey there! I just got a new laptop and didn’t format it right away. As it started acting up, I installed GhostSpectre, but I ran into some issues. My Windows boots fine, the BIOS sees my SSD, but during installation it doesn’t show up at all—even when using DiskPart. On C: all files are marked as "write only," yet they don’t appear on the install screen. I’ve tried a few things: checking regedit and adjusting the WriteProtect setting, using both GTP and MBR, disabling BitLocker, and installing Intel RAID drivers (though Windows says it’s not supported). What’s going on?
Initiate a live boot, generate a bootable image, and prepare the SSD for formatting.
For Windows 7 or 8 installation, you must use a completely updated ISO file for NVME drives to ensure compatibility.
I actually gave it a shot. It's really terrible—performance is worse than a normal Windows setup, and there are missing components that make it unstable. Things like the optimized Pagefile/Services/Scheduled/Search Indexer require the drive to be fully formatted. I managed to install Ghost Spectre without too many problems, but based on what I've seen, I wouldn't recommend it. The performance is extremely poor, and it's unclear what other changes they made. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The setup needs to be compatible with the current system specs. Older versions lack NVME support but function with SATA SSDs. You should use a newer installer that includes NVME or proceed with the Windows 10 version. Testing is essential to confirm compatibility.
Thanks! I’ll attempt to use the official Windows version and check if the issue persists after a Live Boot. The problem seemed to appear when formatting from the Live environment.
Unfortunately, the previous attempt failed; I've saved the newest Windows setup utility, but it isn't appearing in the installer.
