Hello, I just upgraded my system and here are the details: GPU RTX 5080, CPU Ryzen 7 9800x3d, motherboard Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite, RAM DDR5 6000MHz, power supply HX1200i. I’m facing significant issues with Death Stranding Director's Cut running smoothly on my machine. While other games perform well, this title consistently drops FPS or stutters. Comparing my setup to others with the same configuration shows no difference except for this game. I’ve tried several online fixes but haven’t seen results. I’m reaching out for advice or a clear solution.

Let me clarify the details. Are you noticing performance issues like frame drops and stuttering? Could you specify where this starts—such as during gameplay, loading screens, or intense moments? Do these problems occur when new areas are loaded, or in combat/heavy situations? When graphics settings are increased? Which other games are running smoothly? What is your storage setup (drive type)? What steps have you already tried to fix it? If we repeat the same actions, it might not help. I also came across a solution on a Reddit thread that might be useful.

I can be very precise about it. The starting frame rate is roughly 160 to 180 FPS. The only two situations where performance drops noticeably during repeated testing are when I scan terrain using the scanner in the game and when reading item text or play signs in the world. Using the scanner reduces the FPS to around 120s before it gradually recovers. Viewing item texts causes the FPS to drop significantly to the 80s. Apart from those two cases, the performance tends to be inconsistent and fluctuates a lot. I've observed low GPU and CPU usage, which seems unusual. The other games I've played—Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Borderlands 3, Horizon Zero Dawn—perform consistently as expected. I've benchmarked against other standards and they match except for the death stranding test.

GPU Drivers: 591.74
Chipset Driver: 7.11.26.2142
BIOS Version: F38

I've tested older GPU drivers, turned off Steam input, adjusted graphics and resolution with little improvement, kept it in high performance mode via Windows Game Mode, ensured no overlay or background apps are running, and disabled ReBar—nothing helped. I also ran benchmarks on 3DMark and my results align with others using the same hardware specs.
