Extreme power consumption from the CPU with the latest motherboard.
I tested a Z370 TUF Pro Gaming with my 8086k (5.1 GHz / 5 GHz cache) for ten months under full load, pushing every power and current limit to their limits. There was no throttling or thermal issues—my 8086k in HWINFO64 averaged 135–145W during Cinebench R20 and about 150W in Aida64 Extreme. (Consistent results across all tests and games.) Recently I upgraded to a Z390 Extreme4 using the same VCore (1.376V and 1.36V under load with LLC set to maintain 1.36V). Power consumption is now around 185W for Cinebench R20 on the CPU and over 200W in AIDA64. Are the readings accurate? Could the VCore be higher than the CPU, or are BIOS/HWINFO reporting differently? Temperatures stayed stable at roughly 65–70°C.
It seems the calculation likely used an incorrect approach. If more current was flowing through the CPU, its temperature would have been significantly higher.
