You're experiencing some instability in BioShock Infinite on your Dell XPS 9300 with an i7-1065G7 and 16GB of 3733MHz RAM. The game runs smoothly at low settings but drops to around 20 FPS when idle or during combat. You're using a solid SSD and other games are performing well. At the moment, you're about halfway through the game and want to tweak settings for better stability.

Intel's integrated graphics on their CPUs aren't very strong, yet they seem to offer some benefits. A few of the mentioned titles are quite outdated, so you might expect them to perform adequately or reasonably well. Occasionally it's related to drivers, but I'd say your system struggles with it, as seen in the dropped frames.

It seems the problem isn't related to the issue you mentioned. The setup ran smoothly at 900p with around 40-50 frames per second and met the game's minimum specs of a GTX 460 and BioShock 1.8.

The iris igpu drivers remain somewhat unstable, especially with older titles. Performance depends on individual situations.

Try adjusting settings like resolution, refresh rate, and game mode. Also, ensure your hardware supports high FPS and update drivers if needed.

Maybe you can adjust some advanced settings in a configuration file or modify 3D options in the Intel control panel. However, this is definitely a certified Intel driver update.

It could be really bothersome, so maybe try it on your main rig at home.

It's a good deal, particularly when paired with the dlc for Infinity from Rapture. Finding it in the menu can be a bit tricky.

observing the surroundings suggests older intel iGPUs generally achieve around 20-40 frames per second, often closer to 40 fps. This might indicate better stability than what you're seeing now. It could also depend on the directX version in use. Additionally, anti-aliasing settings on iGPUs can sometimes cause problems.
