Hello, This is your bog standard overheating issue post. I have a self-assembled PC that I use for work and for gaming and its completely overheating even with all the fans I throw at it. Here are the details first: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming WIFI II (Bios version 4408) AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (Stock BIOS clocking) Two Nvidia RTX 3090s (MSI RTX 3090 VENTUS 3X 24G OC and Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 GAMI) 4x Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 16GB DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C16 1.35V Desktop Memory - Black, CMK32GX4M2D3600C16 and 3 hard drives, 2 SSDs and 1 NVME PSU is EVGA SuperNOVA G+ 1600 Watt Cooling is: Thermaltake 360mm TH360 ARGB Snow Edition All In One CPU Water Cooler x3 included AF140L 140mm fans (2 at the front and 1 at the back) and I have also added x2 Arctic F12 PWM Case Fan 120mm to the bottom of the case to take air from the bottom (it sits on a lifted platform for airflow) The case is Graphite Series 780T Full-Tower PC Case Here are some snips of idle temps and load temps Idle And under load As you can see its absolutely insane. I have read that GPU hot spot should be around 70-75 C under load. The CPU also just goes absolutely mental trying to kill itself. I have issues with the PC freezing (completely unresponsive, screens dont turn on. Have to do a hard reset) during night rendering sessions but thats not surprising given the temperatures. I have re-pasted the CPU several times thinking that I am doing something wrong but its just bent on killing itself. Here's a photo of inside the case At this point I am out of ideas (apart from doing all liquid cooling for CPU and both GPUs). I cant understand why the temps are so high. The room is 22C and at night I leave the window open and it goes down to 15C. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated. I have been stuck with this problem for 6 months now

Are there any tasks that really help you using two 3090s? What’s the airflow like on top? Is it completely blocked? In short, anything under 85°C is acceptable and meets requirements. The CPU can heat up to 50-60°C when idle while moving the mouse. Have you tried PBO Tuning in BIOS with your 5950x? It’s worth checking out.

The CPU can heat up to 50-60°C when idle while moving the mouse. Have you tried PBO Tuning in BIOS with your 5950x? It’s worth checking out.

I work on 3D animation and rendering with Redshift, which means longer render times are a big deal. Even when the mesh protection is off, CPU temperatures jump to 91°C during heavy use. My CPU can hit around 75°C at only 10% load, and the fans get really loud. I’ve tried running all cores at 4.4 MHz with 1.2x speed, which helps a bit during idle but still causes overheating at higher loads. I haven’t adjusted PBO settings yet, and I’m not familiar with this optimization technique.

GPU temperatures are still manageable even at high levels. However, it looks like your HDD rack is obstructing one of the fans, leaving only a single front fan to draw air from the front. Regarding the CPU, as noted before, the AIO pump might be faulty. That’s why I prefer air cooling solutions—something like Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 would suffice and ensure optimal performance.

Unfortunately, I can't fix the HDD rack since I need those drives for work. Maybe a NAS would help. Regarding the air cooling, it was amusing because my NH-D9L Noctua tower cooler didn’t perform well with this CPU (similar temperatures to before). I ended up buying an AIO, but now I don’t have the original cooler and can’t revert—so I’d need a replacement.

It's interesting that Noctua hasn't given a clear TDP for this cooler. TDP values can be quite vague, but based on its design it seems to be relatively low. It looks like a compact model similar to the Dark Pro 4 would work well even with high-performance chips. This cooler is powerful. The two bottom fans you mentioned will mainly help the bottom GPU slot. From what I see in the image, you're using an exhaust setup. Have you considered spinning the fans and letting fresh air circulate from the top of the case?
