Hello everyone, I recently set up bitlocker hardware encryption on my Dell XPS 13 9300 using a Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD. It wasn’t simple—someone who wants more details followed this guide. I did it mostly for testing performance and to switch from software to hardware encryption. Now I’m curious: what if my laptop breaks after three years? How can I recover the data? Perhaps hardware encryption is meant to stop this, but I still need a way to access the drive data on another computer. As shown in the attached photo, there’s no backup option for the recovery key. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

You can store the recovery key in a text file and attach it to a USB drive, or simply note it down for easy reference.

I don't agree with that choice. From what I see in the screenshot, it seems to be the sole method for backing up the key.

When using a Microsoft account, the unlock key is saved there.
