EXPO vs XMP
EXPO vs XMP
Hello everyone, seeking a bit of assurance. I visited Memex and they advised against using this RAM (T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 6000MHz CL30) because it’s XMP-only and wouldn’t fit my ROG STRIX B850-A / 9800x3D configuration. Instead, they suggested a Kingston set that supports both XMP and EXPO. As I dug deeper, it seems XMP should work on AMD builds since it’s just a preset. It might be an Intel-specific setting, which could cause issues. I’ve noticed discussions about 7700 builds using this RAM, but not specifically with the 9800x3D model or certain part numbers (like FF 3 D532G6000HC30DC vs FF 4 D532G6000HC30DC). Adding Alpha and Delta options, Amazon indicates EXPO compatibility, so it’s worth checking if this will function. I’d prefer the look but want confidence it won’t affect my post. Thanks for your help.
Generally, DDR5 differences between EXPO and XMP aren't significant. While XMP is Intel-focused and EXPO is AMD-focused, they often refer to the same preset stored in different locations within the SPD. The main exception is tRFC timing, where Intel and AMD handle it differently, but this gap has largely disappeared since early AM5 BIOS updates. Choose what suits you better or offers a price advantage—pursuing EXPO solely for its name isn't necessary.
