I currently possess one stick of 16GB memory. I wasn't aware of the extent of the performance drop when using single versus dual channels at that time. I'm considering upgrading to dual channel. The main concern is whether purchasing another identical stick would bring me back to 32GB or if buying a dual-channel kit with matching speed, brand, and model would be better. I've searched but opinions differ: some warn against three sticks, others say it's acceptable. If I opt for the dual-channel kit and can't use my existing stick, I might need to sell it. The only motivation is that a separate 16GB stick would cost about $40 more, while a dual-channel setup could work without sacrificing performance or reliability. Summary: invest more for certainty with 32GB dual channel or save and consider a 16GB dual channel setup. P.S. I have a 3200MHz G.Skill Aegis 1x16.

A 16GB SSD is significantly more than a 2x8 setup. Both offer 16GB, but the single unit provides better performance and reliability. Choose the one with the 16GB capacity and install it properly.

results vary due to occasional compatibility issues. when combining components, aim for the closest matches possible. generally, experts suggest avoiding mixing altogether, though stability remains a priority.

I receive one matching stick at a time. Using three sticks might lead to a single channel for all if your board is particularly slow. Ideally, you want a balanced mix of single and dual channels, but exceeding the stick limits can hurt performance. You won’t gain overall improvement, so consider upgrading to a 16GB stick instead. It’s best to act now.
