Explorer.exe crashes during shutdown, but only occasionally on Windows 11.
Explorer.exe encountered a problem while accessing memory at address 0x00007ff de6b43faa. The system reported it couldn<|pad|> to write that address. This issue appears occasionally and isn't recorded in Event Viewer. I captured a screenshot with my phone, paused at the exact moment the message appeared, and noted the details manually. It doesn’t disrupt normal operation while running, but it still causes concern. I suspect a connection to the GameInput Service, which I use while gaming and don’t wish to disable. A memory leak was also considered, but both Windows diagnostics and Memtest86 showed no errors. After a recent reset and installation of a new M.2 drive, the problem disappeared completely, and my Windows remained up to date. Please assist in resolving this matter. Thank you ahead of time!
What is the RAM speed? Is the CPU running at a lower voltage? Edit: You may have turned off the Armoury Crate feature in BIOS and removed it with the uninstaller. https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury crate/helpdesk_download/
Meant to share those performance numbers in the post. Will adjust later. The RAM is 3600MHz C18, CPU is at its standard settings—no clock or voltage issues. (This was a tricky PC topic I’ve been cautious about) And I completely turned off Armory Crate right after updating the BIOS! No need to remove anything before Windows even started.
When I turn off the system, I'll enable DOCP auto. The BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date. What needs checking? (I'm about to crash tonight, then have to be back tomorrow, so I might not get immediate answers) Still, I want to reassure you that during operation there are no performance issues. The only problems appear when shutting down. Both Windows and Memtest86 passed tests (Bios set to 3600mhz). Essentially, the only concern I have is memory. Please advise on the next steps and I'll follow up when possible. Thanks.
Check if the error vanishes when auto is turned off. Was the kit bought in one 2x16GB unit or two separate 2x16GB units? If yes, the docp profile should be set for 2x16GB, not 4x16. In that scenario, just adjust the memory frequency, primary timings, and DRAM voltage manually, and turn off docp. All remaining settings will then auto-configure by the motherboard.
The storage units are 2x16GB modules. I purchased the second one a year ago. The issue started only after I reset the PC and reinstalled Windows. Some advice on this situation? When you turn off DOCP, are you sacrificing performance or speed? Or is it the same result as adjusting memory frequency, timings, and voltage manually? Where can I find the correct settings or should I follow what DOCP suggests?
The timing is very similar, though there might be a minor variation. Certain 4x16GB modules need 1.4v when using four sticks together. The sub-timings aren't the main ones. Check the BIOS under SPD settings to view them. If you turn on DOCP, timings will appear in the settings.
I tried using full auto with DOCP disabled and the default values. The issue persisted after power cycles or shutdowns. I’ll include the screenshots for reference. Please let me know if you’d like me to capture the error image or if your notes are sufficient. What should we attempt next? Thanks.
