In Windows 11 File Explorer, opening "This PC" takes roughly 15 seconds to display the drives. I’ve looked into fixes like disabling the search service in MSCONFIG or clearing the cache, but loading remains sluggish, affecting programs and causing issues like a slow save dropdown menu. Currently, six mapped drives appear in This PC, each opening quickly without delay. This is with a new Dell Precision i7-13700 that was freshly installed with Windows 11 a few months ago and is up-to-date. Other computers, even Dell models, don’t face this slowdown. Anyone know how to resolve this?

What are your specifications? Are you running a traditional hard drive or a solid-state drive?

Here are the details:
The specifications are ready, all updated.
I can provide a screenshot of the task manager if needed.

It appears the system is checking for network connections or removable media such as card readers. Are there any shared drives accessible via network shares or physical drives connected?

Explorer activity increases when accessing "This PC." No external disks connected—only an additional internal M.2 SSD is present.

All network locations are listed. The program needs to review each one in the menu. Is any server currently unavailable?

These are all online, many other users use similar mapped network drives, and most have even more. No one else is experiencing this problem. It might be related to Windows. Running sfc /scannow didn't fix it, nor did dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. I might need to reset the OS, reformat it, and start over.

Try connecting to another machine using your credentials, or let another person access your account. From what I've seen, many unexpected issues like forced reinstalls often stem from compromised user profiles.

It's really simple to solve this. That's why I often save the old Windows ISO files nearby—I'm sure they work by default. Great for network drives!
