About two days ago Windows Explorer began restarting randomly. Applications remain unaffected, while the file system and desktop continue to restart. I searched for newer solutions but found only outdated options. I’m looking for fresh ideas.

It’s probably not a faulty drive, according to @Alexsolo. Restarting task bars—though I’m not sure about full desktop restarts—is typical in Windows 10. The issue has improved with updates, but it remains fairly common. Still, Windows continues to have many bugs that need fixing, and this is one of them. Since the problem began recently, I’d open your terminal as an admin and execute sfc/scannow to verify Windows integrity.

Do you have audio/video equipment set up? Also, does it cause issues or crashes during normal use, such as right-clicking the desktop?
