To install Cinnamon themes, you should use the appropriate package manager for your system. Since you mentioned having the theme files in `/usr/share/themes`, check if the theme is available via the package manager or if you need to download it separately.

Cinnamon themes are stored in a concealed directory named ".themes" within your Home folder. You can view it by displaying hidden files or using the terminal command (cd ~/.themes/). Unzip the theme files located there. https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/ (Note: Files and folders starting with a dot are hidden, similar to macOS)

Yes there is a specific Themes setting where I can download and apply themes. However, none of the themes actually apply. I can only apply the icon-packs. I also have a problem with DPI-scaling in Cinnamon.

Cinnamon needs HiDPI scaling, which should be available in System settings under General. For themes, I can't assist further since I don't have Cinnamon installed on my Linux VM. You might check the official guide here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/121387/ho...on-desktop. Also consider placing theme folders in /usr/share/cinnamon/theme.

The HiDPI setting wasn’t effective enough, making everything appear three times larger than desired. There’s no terminal command available in Cinnamon to adjust it. The titlebar is missing, and there are no options to restore it. Cinnamon feels quite unpleasant to use. It might be time to abandon multitouch gestures in favor of Unity—though I haven’t even managed to test that yet.
