I'm tired of the games I usually play lately. For the past couple of months, I've mostly stuck to ARK on Steam, and I'm eager to dive back into a MMORPG. Used to enjoy World of Warcraft but left after not liking its direction; I came back for Legion when it launched but stopped again because I thought the design was poor. I've checked out the latest titles and it looks like Final Fantasy Rebirth, Eso, Gw2, or BDO are the main options. Which one would you all suggest? I've tried Gw2 before but never really got into it. Would anyone know which MMORPG has the biggest player base besides WoW, please? Thanks!
It's not worthwhile because it's merely a massive waste of time.
I've played ESO and FFIV. It really depends if you want the generic cookie cutter classes of most mmo's where you get your skills setup then go: 1,2,3,4 attack 1,2,3,4 until it's execution phase.... FF would be for you. ESO is obviously based on the lore of the elder scrolls series which I am also biased to. But the voice acting is amazing, whenever I'm solo I just go questing for fun, and it's rare to have a game where it's actually "fun" to do quests... The multiplayer experience is also great, and I prefer it much more over FF. There's an optional subscription in ESO whereas in FF you have to pay the fee to play. Honestly though trying them out yourself will give you your own best answer, I have just been sucked into ESO over the past 6 months.
I enjoy playing Final Fantasy XIV and believe it's an excellent title despite not having many other MMORPGs to compare. The community is strong, gameplay options vary widely across classes to suit different preferences, and the narrative is engaging though it can feel lengthy at times. The upcoming expansion Stormblood will release in July, with substantial new content released roughly every few months. A nice feature is the ability to switch classes during combat without needing separate accounts—eliminating the need for multiple characters. $12 per month
FFXIV offers a vast amount of content and isn't focused mainly on PVP as the main experience. The only challenge is the cost—basic accounts start at $12 per month or up to $15 if you choose the standard plan. Square Enix recently extended the 14-day trial, allowing free play with some limits (like a maximum level of 35 for one character).
I was planning to mention that I recently began playing WOW once more and I’m finding it enjoyable. It’s been a while since I experienced the upgraded visuals, which now seem quite satisfactory. At the moment, I’m focusing on the WOD expansion, but I’m still getting used to it. Well, that’s about it—I’ve only played Everquest before, so this comment isn’t very insightful.
Level 35 offers solid benefits, unlocking around 60% of world maps and the initial "technical" dungeons. It also provides a preview of the upgraded class from level 30 to 35. The standard price of $15 feels quite low given the value it provides.
