Good morning. I need to understand why my system reacts differently in World of Warcraft compared to other games. My PC has a Ryzen 7 5800X with PBO2, an optimized curve, and a 12GB RAM with 3200MHz. The case keeps cool, and temperatures are normal. I’ve played WoW for a while, usually on a 1080p monitor at 165Hz. During raids with many players and intense spells, my CPU usage stayed between 17% to 30%, while the GPU stayed under 45% with smooth 100-120 FPS at high settings. Recently I tried the DLDSR from NVIDIA, which boosted performance in raids to around 110-130 FPS with CPU under 25% and GPU at 60%. Outside raids, I still see a drop of 10-20 frames. Is it because increasing the resolution in MMOs actually helps CPU performance during CPU-heavy moments?

DLDSR employs the same technology as DLSS, which relies on deep learning. It's likely effective enough to boost frame rates.

Increasing the resolution can enhance performance and allow higher power/performance states versus lower resolution.

I owned the XFX R9 390x and used it extensively. It ran smoothly, delivering higher framerates in most triple-A games at 1440p compared to 1080p. That performance still amazes me today. At least the current features like Virtual Super Resolution, DLSS, and advanced rendering techniques make more sense. The 300-series lacked those capabilities back then. Certain cards, such as pick-up trucks, could reach their full potential. The picture quality with the VSR feature and hat boost works exceptionally well on my notebook with a Ryzen 3 2200 and Vega3 graphics. It really delivers value for the price, around 200 dollars.
