Feel free to try it out. If the cost is comparable, there’s nothing stopping you. By the way, what improvements are you aiming for?

Upgrading from an 8600K @ 5.2GHz to a 12600K @ 5.2GHz or similar, switching from 3600CL18-22-22-42 to 3600CL14 or 4800CL18/19. Aiming for around 15-25 FPS. Not sure, but my other specs are: 1440P at 144Hz, a 27-inch AOC monitor, 2TB NVMe M.2 drive—though it doesn’t really matter. I’m using an EVGA RTX 2070 Super 3 Slot edition and Corsair RMx850. Looking to get a Corsair H150i in hand. Just sent my H100i back to Best Buy.

Expect a notable boost in performance when switching from 8600K to 12600K, likely due to improved IPC and more threads in the latter rather than just faster RAM speeds.

I'm not sure what to do, but I'm waiting since everyone said my GPU is a bottleneck at 1440p compared to my CPU. With the first 12600k on an ASRock board and DDR4 3600 CL18, I didn't notice any FPS improvement even with a 5.0GHz OC. I sent the POS back there and tried again.

It varies by game, but the GPU is probably the main issue in most titles. You might notice a gap when higher core CPUs run smoother games. If the Asrock board didn’t show a difference, you’re unlikely to see it with another motherboard. It seems you’re likely dealing with a GPU limitation, and boosting your CPU or RAM won’t make much of a change.
