I can use the machine for hours without problems, but stepping away causes the mouse and keyboard to become unresponsive in seconds. The issue started after moving components from a Define R4 to a Fractal North case. I’ve tried unplugging all connections, switching cables, and even using a different mouse, but it still happens. I’m unsure if it’s hardware or software—my initial thought was a case fault, but the CPU swap didn’t help. I’m worried about a motherboard or graphics card problem. Any advice on troubleshooting steps? Checking system logs might help identify what triggers the freeze.

It remains stable while I'm inside the bios. Mouse responses are slightly delayed in certain tabs, though everything functions properly. It seems I might have missed installing the driver when I reinstalled Windows a few months ago. Would it be better to use the AMD or Gigabyte version? Gigabyte provides the AMD chipset driver 3.10.22.706 from April 2022, while AMD offers driver 5.02.19.2221 dated February 28, 2023. Should I choose the AMD one? Thanks! The most recent GPU BIOS is available from AMD. Gigabyte's drivers are considered outdated or unstable.
Vbios version 94.02.42.c0.14 is confirmed by Evga Precision. This appears to be the most recent release. I'll review the updates tomorrow to see if there are any improvements.
My computer froze again after a brief pause, then came back shortly afterward. I paused a YouTube video before getting up and taking off my headphones. When I returned, the mouse didn’t work. Pressing the space bar to play the video only caused buffering before it stopped completely. I shut it down and restarted it, but it still booted into Windows without problems. This is really strange.
Use XMP disabled. Check your RAM with Memtest86+ or PassMark Memtest86.
Conducted a memtest and it completed successfully. Disconnected all case connections to check for faulty cables. Initially suspected cable issue, but freezing persisted after a short computer shutdown. Mouse function remained mostly intact except for alt-tab and ctrl-alt-es which froze completely. Screen behavior mimicked graphics card failure, with text appearing blurry and pixelated. I’m wondering if there’s a motherboard connection problem with the case. I might move my components back to the original case to test further.
I thought it might be the braided cables causing the issue, trying them out to see if they stabilize things. I switched back to the standard power cables and haven’t experienced any freezes. I also didn’t test the IO connections after replacing them. It’s possible the problem was with the braided ones.
