I've begun experiencing issues with my controller following the release of Microsoft's Windows update patches on October 22nd. A new driver for the Xbox One controller was added, but it has consistently failed to function properly or launch without errors.

Consider updating your Xbox controller firmware, it might be outdated. You can install the update via this app: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/xbox-a...verviewtab. Connect your controller using a USB cable or the Microsoft Xbox dongle (not Bluetooth). If your controller lacks a 3.5mm jack for headphones, only a USB cable is needed. Also, ensure the Xbox app is up to date. Get the latest version from the Xbox app for Windows 10 PCs.

I performed that task last week, but it didn't work as expected. Also, Microsoft didn't include a dongle or USB cord with the purchase from Best Buy two months ago.

controller with dongle is slightly more expensive than one without, but no usb cable is included—any USB cable works fine and it consumes low power. The dongle is useful because it avoids bluetooth problems that can occur on Windows, and with an Xbox dongle it can support up to four controllers. Make sure the issue isn't related to your Bluetooth settings; you might try reinstalling the Bluetooth drivers or using a different Bluetooth driver version.
