I assembled my new PC inside the Seasonic SYNCRO Q704 enclosure. It includes four 120mm Nidec fans that produce significant noise. I attempted to align their fan curves with those of the Noctua NH-D15, which operates very quietly, but the fans still generate a lot of sound. During idle, my CPU temperatures sit between 32-33°C while the Noctua fans spin at roughly 600-700RPM and the Nidec fans at 1400-1500RPM. Could you offer any advice on reducing the noise from those Nidec fans? Or are they inherently loud? Thanks. Your specs: Windows 10 Home 64 (version 18363.592), AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (no overclocking), Noctua NH-D15, MSI MEG X570, Crucial Ballistix 32GB (2x16), DDR4 3600 CL16, Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, WD Caviar Green 2TB, 5400RPM, MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming, Seasonic SYNCRO 850W BIOS v7C35VAA8.

Ensure adequate ventilation by observing the direction of airflow from your fans. The front should draw in air while the back expels it. Make sure the upper fans are also directing air outward.

PC fans operate in two settings: DC and PWM. Fans with four wires use PWM, while those with three wires use DC. Based on observation, setting the fan to the wrong mode may skip the fan curve and cause it to run at full speed, often excessively.

The fans were placed in the right spots. This relates to the sound they make. Yes, I did. By changing their fan curve, I ensured it was set to PWM mode.

I adjusted the PWM curve tightly—10% until CPU reaches 70°C, 20% above that, and 50% at 100°C. Speeds settled around 950 RPM, and they seem to hit a low point between 910-930°C. Once they drop that low, it's hard to reduce further. An alternative would be switching to quieter models like Arctic P12/P14 or beQuiet/Nocutua, depending on your budget. It's interesting since reviews claim those "Nidec fans" offer industrial-grade performance, but they're definitely not silent. Perhaps the term "industrial quality" applies more to heavy-duty use rather than quiet operation.
