Experiencing issues with achieving full gigabit internet speed?
Hey! Your internet isn’t hitting its full capacity. After Xfinity installed their equipment, you’re using their XFi box as a modem and linking it to your Nighthawk R7000 router, which connects to a ProSafe 24-port switch. The switch routes traffic between your servers and other areas of the house. Your download speed is around 476 Mbps, but the built-in tester on your Nighthawk only shows about 526 Mbps. It looks like something might be interfering or causing congestion. Since you live in the city, it’s possible neighbors are affecting your bandwidth. You could try checking for other devices using high speeds nearby, updating firmware, or contacting Xfinity support for further help. If you can’t reach gigabit, downgrading might not be worth it—just focus on optimizing what you have. Let me know if you want more tips!
I’d lower the rating, unless you’re on fiber, you’ll always be limited to slower speeds.
Haha at least you the somewhat lucky one! 6 hours is tough though!
Great discovery! I connected my PC directly to the XFi modem and instantly saw the improvement. Through some research, I learned my R7000 Nighthawk router isn’t up-to-date and is restricting my internet speed. It’s probably time to switch to a newer router for better performance.
