Back then my friend borrowed his 2080 super because he couldn't use his PC for months, so I replaced my 1070ti with his model and everything worked perfectly. Since then I've had to return the card and put my own back in. Recently I've encountered this problem while streaming or watching YouTube. With a dual monitor setup, I usually have a Twitch stream on one and a game or video on the other. Over time the videos freeze but audio stays, and the task manager shows high GPU usage with the PC becoming very slow. Temperatures are normal, drivers are up to date and cleaned, so it doesn't seem like a GPU issue. It seems to occur whenever two video sources run at once and the only fix is to restart the computer. I use Firefox as my browser and haven't checked other browsers yet. Reliability Monitor reports a hardware error each time it happens, but I'm not sure what that means. Thanks for any advice—it's frustrating even though a restart usually solves it.
I started with safe mode using DDU, removed all NVIDIA drivers, reinstalled the latest ones, but the issue persists. Occasionally I can use it for a full day without problems, but other nights it freezes 2-3 times per night, usually during streaming or when both video and stream are playing together.
Turbo mode from the CPU is shown in the BIOS, and XMP settings are applied to the RAM. The GPU remains unaffected. I haven’t made any other adjustments besides swapping my 2080 Super for a 1070 Ti. This problem didn’t occur before using that card or during installation, but it now happens often. It might not be connected to the GPU swap, and it seems to be a coincidence that it’s happening now. I’m not aware of any significant changes beyond that swap.
Consider going through a complete reset versus simply reinstalling.
