Experiencing a rapid drop in frames per second on BF3 and 4?
Getting through at least 70 to 80 frames was possible, sometimes reaching up to 90 fps on medium graphics settings. Now it's struggling beyond 60 with occasional drops into the low 50s. I've attempted reinstalling Nvidia drivers, updating Windows 10, switching to Windows 8.1, changing the power plan to 'High performance', removing the graphics card and installing it in another PCI-e slot, and even swapping out the HDD and SSD. Still, I'm unsure what's causing the issue—everything worked fine until recently.
Are you using any tool to monitor your system's temperature? Your thermal management might be the cause. MSI Afterburner helps track temps during gaming. Also, ensure GeForce Experience doesn’t exceed your monitor’s resolution (DSR) – this could explain the unexpected drop.
Thanks for the update. It looks like the issue has been resolved. Previously, my GPU usage was lower than expected, around 50-60%, which made me wonder if that was the cause. My CPU usage was rising significantly, between 70 to 90%. I know a CPU bottleneck happens when playing more demanding maps with many players, especially Siege. Now I’m seeing stable performance of 70 to 100 FPS, rarely dropping below 60, which is acceptable given the 64-player count. Since I’m using 75Hz on my monitor, achieving 60 FPS feels smooth. I’ll let you know if it slows again. Still unsure what fixed the problem.
