While playing demanding games like Hogwarts Legacy of Assassin's Creed, my PC occasionally freezes briefly. A loud buzz sounds through the headphones, then it restarts. After restarting, the screen remains black even though I can hear the startup sounds and the white light on the monitor signals a GPU problem. By holding the power button and restarting in that manner, I can return to using the PC. This seems to be the main cause of crashes, though it also happens when fans reach maximum speed and the GPU drivers disappear unexpectedly on restart. My system specs are: Windows 11 64 bit, Asus B550-F motherboard, AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 6-core processor at 4.20 GHz, Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO 16GB DDR4, SanDisk Ultra II 240GB Corsair RM1000e, and a Radeon 6800 GPU. I've tried updating drivers and rolling back the BIOS, but before that I had to reset CMOS each time. Now a hard restart works. I just installed Windows and checked the PSU, storage with SFC, ran memory diagnostics, and performed stress tests on GPU and CPU using 3D Mark. No obvious issues detected. I don’t have much experience with event logs, but nothing stands out as a problem. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot further?

This occurs frequently or regularly? You referenced rolling back drivers and updating, have you attempted DDU ing followed by installing the driver via a standalone installer (without using GeForce Experience)? Are you dealing with a new system or an upgrade? If it's an upgrade, what modifications or updates were made? Did you reinstall Windows after the upgrade? (If the previous system used an Intel processor.)

I'm running on a GPU that isn't listed in your specifications.

It frequently occurs, lasting a few weeks now. The timing differs occasionally—sometimes it takes over an hour, other times it happens almost instantly after launching the game. Recently, I browsed the web (which doesn’t seem to trigger it) and performed a fresh Windows install, completely emptying the storage. I’m still trying to confirm it’s not due to a faulty driver or another problem. The system is several years old, except for the PSU which I replaced today. My GPU is a Radeon 6800—sorry for not mentioning that earlier. Just tried clearing and reinstalling the driver, but it still crashes.

Do you have any method to try a larger amount of RAM? 16GB is the absolute lowest for many recent titles, and I've noticed similar feedback. This would also match what stress tests and other utilities indicate is working properly... possibly.

Yes, you can remove the video drivers and rely solely on the Windows update drivers.
