PC Specifications
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z690-A
CPU: 13900k
GPU: Asus TUF 4090 OC
RAM: 32GB 5600 DDR5
PSU: 1250w
The GPU operates at full capacity, but I find it hard to play many games at 2K resolution, especially Diablo 4. At 60 FPS in towns and 30-40 while actively playing, I notice a significant drop.
I believe this configuration should handle any game smoothly at 2K, given the popularity of 4K playback.
I’ve seen numerous benchmark videos on YouTube where people run a 4090 at 2K and achieve much higher FPS.
I also hear a whining sound when the GPU is at 80%-100%, likely from the power cord (around 12VHPWR). I got an aftermarket cord from CableMod but switched back to the original due to noise and concerns about cable damage.
Drivers are all current, updated for GeForce Experience.
Any advice would be appreciated; my main concern was a bottleneck elsewhere, though the GPU seems to perform well at 100%.

Which specific power source is being used and its age? What type of display and connection cables are involved? Are temperature readings being tracked?

Temperatures stay low, never exceeding 40c (per L-Connect).
MSI - MAG A1250GL PCIE 5, 80 GOLD Fully Modular Gaming PSU, 12V-2×6 Cable, ATX 3.1 & PCIE 5.1 Compatible, 1250W Capacity, 10 Year Warranty.
Samsung 34" G5 Odyssey with a display port cord.
EDIT: The power supply is brand new; I installed it yesterday to address this problem. Previously used a 1000w unit, so this was my first change to test its effect. No improvement observed.

It seems in a brief search the G5 only supports FreeSync, not G-Sync, and it's possible to adjust this setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

Done, same outcomes. Appreciate it should have been done earlier.

Maximum ray tracing may negatively impact performance in Diablo 4, possibly contributing to the problem. It might be helpful to begin with a reliable benchmark like 3DMark to assess whether your system meets expected standards for your hardware. Slow memory usage could also lead to difficulties when comparing to other players' results.

It appears your 4090 is not performing well. The wattage it uses while playing Diablo 4 can be monitored using HWmonitor for details such as power consumption, maximum clock speeds, and usage.

Temperatures staying below 40C indicate very low performance, making it unlikely your 4090 is operating at normal wattage. It seems the GPU cores are heavily utilized (100% usage), but clock speeds might be reduced because of the low power consumption.
