When conditions are just right, it can reach 4.8 GHz, that's the upper limit. No one offers assurances about overclocking. Your chip might not even handle 5 GHz—it's up to you to discover its limits. As for what Comet Lake can do, I'm pretty uncertain.

It seems your old i5 3550 was running smoothly at 3.7GHz right out of the box (starting from 3.3GHz), even though it was on a different system and chipset.
